Espadrilles with Turquoise Star

These espadrilles answer the question fo what shoes might look like if they were encrusted with turquoise stone mosaics. The top of each shoe exhibits an eight-pointed star, surrounded in contrasting bands of light and darks shades of turquoise. This pattern is based on a photograph of a Tibetan prayer wheel, but the original image has been so drastically fragmented and reconstructed as to render the source inscrutable. This may parallel the problem of human comprehension, since evolution has guided our sensory perceptions and minds in ways that may make it impossible for us to discover the deeper objective realities we know must exist beyond our capacity to comprehend.
